Steps To Completely Uninstall EPM 11.1.2.x + Greetings From Top Gun 2015

I returned from the Infratects Top Gun conference on Sunday. The event, this time held in London, was once again a great opportunity to get insights on the latest EPM release (straight from Oracle Product Development of course) and meet lots of like-minded people. The presentations (except the ones from Oracle devs, I assume) will be published on the event's web site soon. See http://www.infratects.com/topgun

To get back into blogging I thought I'd start with an easy post. Oracle has published an article yesterday that helps in case you need to get rid of all EPM products installed on a server. There are quite a few tasks to carry out so the list acts as a useful reminder even if you already know all the bits you need to clean up.

And a couple more photos from Top Gun to wrap things up properly:

EPM Product Versions Supported By Smart View

The Oracle EPM System Supported Platforms document, often also called the Certification Matrix, includes a compatibility chart that can be used to determine interoperability between EPM versions and other Oracle software (such as the versions of ODI you can use with Essbase 11.1.2.3). When Smart View started living a life of its own after the 11.1.2.5 release, the product was removed from the common EPM certification matrix. This change has made it harder to figure out what exact EPM versions you can use with the latest Smart View release; even the readme files included with the SV installer do not mention this information anymore. It seems that the following Support articles are the only place for finding this knowledge at the moment:

To make life easier for EPM admins I decided to collect the Smart View specific information from the articles in the table below (status for Smart View 11.1.2.5.210 as of August 18th 2014). Please use the links above to double check the latest Smart View version in case you are reading this post later.

I haven't seen an official announcement yet but got a hint that Oracle has updated the Fusion Middleware Lifetime Support Policy document with an interesting change regarding the EPM product suite. The Premier and Extended Support periods for EPM 11.1.2.x releases are getting a 3-year extension as follows:

  • End of Premier Support moved from April 2015 to April 2018
  • End of Extended Support moved from April 2018 to April 2021

Index Of Current Patch Set Updates For EPM Products

"Patch Set Update" or PSU is the Oracle equivalent for update packages that used to be called Service Packs in the Hyperion times. An article which lists the currently available PSUs for the following EPM products has recently been published on Support.
  • Financial Management (HFM)
  • Reporting and Analysis
  • Financial Reporting
  • Interactive Reporting
  • Planning
  • Essbase
  • Financial Data Quality Management (FDQM)
  • Enterprise Performance Management Architect (EPMA)
  • Calculation Manager
Bookmark the article or add it to your Favorites list on Oracle Support so you can easily go back and check the latest recommended updates for the products installed in your EPM/Hyperion environment.

Get More Out Of Oracle Support - Part 1

The Oracle Support HOT Topics Email

In my first post I promised to concentrate on technical things but I have noticed that a lot of people working with EPM/Hyperion products do not know about this useful feature available on the Oracle Support site. The HOT Topics Email allows you to receive notifications about new and modified Knowledge Base articles concerning products you subscribe to on your profile page. The topics for these articles vary from bugfixes to general hints and tips and they might provide a solution to that small annoying problem you have been suffering from but have not bothered to create a Support Request about yet.
